Newcastle United Owner On Manager's Job

Despite the Magpies' s sluggish start to the season, Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben insists there hasn't been any panic in the boardroom. After suffering three straight losses, Eddie Howe's team turned things around, earning a crucial victory over Brentford, a crucial point away at AC Milan in the Champions League, and a return to domestic play with a televised match at newly promoted Sheffield United.

Some uneasy early issues were raised by the manner in which Newcastle lost to 10-man Liverpool at home and by their low performance at Brighton. Before the close victory over the Bees, Howe himself came under fire for saying he didn't need the advice of detractors to turn around the team's form.

Before the Champions League opener at AC Milan, Reuben was questioned about the perspective of Newcastle's ownership group on the beginning of the season. The billionaire reaffirmed the long-term strategy that St James' Park now has in place and backed Howe and the team to demonstrate their talent in the upcoming months.

Reuben said about Jim White: "Total serenity. We have every confidence that our players and coach will have a successful season. You don't always succeed; you don't always win.

"You need to have patience, be composed, and support the professionals on and off the field that we think we have. We still have challenging Champions League matches ahead of us, but everyone believes our team and coach can succeed despite the challenging start to the season.
