Germany fired coach Hansi Flick on Sunday, the day after their 4-1 friendly loss to Japan at home, according to the German Football Association (DFB). The four-time world champions were in poor form heading into the Euro 2024 tournament at home. The decision shouldn't come as much of a surprise given that Germany was eliminated early from the World Cup last year, and their lackluster recent performances failed to persuade the federation executives that the squad could succeed next year at home. Germany does not need to qualify for the Euros, but they have not improved since their shocking World Cup departure last year, and with the German public swiftly losing tolerance with their awful play, the DFB decided it was time to take action.
